Restoration is not a solitary act. Moonbeams Preserve thrives through the collective wisdom of local environmental stewards, restoration ecologists, and community funders.
Orange Environment
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit and citizen watchdog organization founded in 1982, dedicated to defending clean air, clean water, and the wild places of Orange County and the wider Hudson Valley.
As the grantee, Orange Environment managed the project, coordinated partners, and ensured the restoration aligned with its mission of on-the-ground stewardship.
Orange County Land Trust
The Orange County Land Trust protects the forests, farms, and watersheds that define the region's character and supports public access to conserved lands.
As the landowner of Moonbeams Preserve, the Land Trust provided access to the 3-acre field and will guide long-term stewardship of the restored meadow.
ArcheWild
ArcheWild Ecological Restoration Services, based in Frenchtown, Pennsylvania, specializes in native ecosystem restoration, from desktop analysis and ecological mapping to invasive removal and planting.
ArcheWild conducted the site's scientific analysis, prepared the planting plan, removed invasives, and installed the 683 native plant plugs in spring 2026.
The collaboration in action
Orange Environment brought advocacy and project management, the Orange County Land Trust provided the protected land and long-term vision, and ArcheWild delivered the ecological science and fieldwork. Together, they turned a field threatened by invasives into a pollinator haven.
